Closing of the Bones (in-person only)
The Closing of the Bones is a sacred hands-on offering of embodied tending, intended to honor and nurture women at any stage in their postpartum journey.
The space is opened with intention-setting, creating a feeling of reverence dedicated to holding you in your wholeness during this time.
If desired, you may share your birth journey. This makes the most sense if you feel fully comfortable being witnessed by the invited women present.
Gentle touch is offered to the feet, hands, and head, and, if desired, the belly. You are then lovingly and slowly wrapped progressively from head to feet, grounding you into the earth and symbolizing the reintegration of your being, the closing of the birth portal, and your rebirth into this next stage of life and womanhood.
This is followed by a cleansing infrared sauna session (around 20 minutes while the drinks are being prepared) to allow further release and renewal, and to gently support the body’s detoxification processes. (After which, be mindful of re-hydrating throughout the day.)
A warm drink, often cacao infused with adaptogenic herbs and mushrooms, is shared in circle.
During this time, the session is then brought to a close, after which you may bathe to rinse off the sweat and reenter your daily life with a renewed sense of support, peace, and groundedness.
This profoundly beautiful experience is a rare opportunity for you to simply receive. It is the kind of sacred care and intentional holding so many women crave—a moment of deep rest, healing, and re-connection in a world that often asks so much.
What you will receive:
A sacred space created in your home for the Ceremony
Gentle therapeutic hands-on tending to your hands, feet, head, belly, and sacrum
Closing of the Bones itself
Infrared sauna with red light therapy
Healing warm drinks following the Ceremony, during integration and closing
A bottle of Rejuvenate the Mother triple extract
A bottle of Althea body oil (infused with whole frankincense resin, myrrh resin, and calendula flowers)—this will also be used during the massage
A custom herbal blend that can be used to yoni steam or added to an herbal bath
Practicalities:
Expect to set aside 2-3 hours for this experience. With very young babies, 2 hours is often the sweet spot.
In order for you to fully release into the Ceremony, please have someone you trust who will tend to baby. Of course, a pause can be created to breastfeed, especially between the Closing and the sauna, when we will share warm drinks together.
While the Closing is possible to offer alone, ideally you will have 1-2 women in mind to invite into the space. Just as with birth, be mindful of who you invite, as the depth of the experience is contributed to when the women present are comfortable holding calm, quiet, reverential space for you, and offering physical touch. <3
The sauna is portable, and I will bring this along with the wrapping cloths for the Closing. If you have woven scarves that are meaningful to you, please gather them as well—the more the better! They can be wool, linen, or cotton, as long as they are woven (not stretchy).
Gather one mug per woman who will be present and having a warm drink.
Gather a couple of towels to line the sauna, and a blanket to wrap in after to prevent “cold invasion.” This will allow your body to slowly cool down as you have your drink, before rinsing.
Please let me know if you have a water filter or not. If you don’t, I will bring a water filter to provide pure water for the drinks during the ceremony. <3
